National examinations in Yogyakarta run smoothly, minister says

The first day of national examinations in Yogyakarta runs smoothly without anomalies, National Education Minister Bambang Sudibyo said here on Tuesday.

“We are satisfied that the examinations run smoothly according to school operational procedure (POS) and without anomalies,” the minister said after observing the process of the tests at nine senior high schools and vocational schools here.

Earlier on the day, the national education minister in the company of local education service chief, Darno, took a close look at the national examinations process at at SMK 2, SMK 3, SMA Muhammadiyah I, SMA 3, SMK 5, SMK 6, SMA Budaya Wacana, SMA Muhammadyah 2, and SMA 8.

On Monday, Darno ensured that the test materials would not be leaked because of tight security and distribution.

In addition, he also asked the local police to help ensure the security during the examinations.

He added that to ensure the quality in the examination process, 300 lecturers from seven universities have been enlisted to supervise the tests.

Meanwhile, the minister said the National Examinations Independent Monitoring Team (TPI) in Yogyakarta had done its job well as expected.

He noted that from his observation in Yogyakarta, all TPI members from Ahmad Dahlan Universtity arrived on time at the location of test. (*)
