No Malaysian Students Affected By Whirlwind
No Malaysian students were affected by a whirlwind which struck Yogyakarta, Sunday afternoon or the strong winds and heavy downpour that are still lashing the city, once the ancient royal capital of Indonesia.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Zainal Abidin Mohamed Zain said none of the 385 Malaysian medical, dentistry and pharmaceutical students studying at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta were staying in the villages that were hit.
The embassy had contacted the students and found them to be safe, he told Bernama Monday.
He hoped the students would look after their own safety as the calamity (whirlwind) might recur.
More than 50 people were injured in the whirlwind, which damaged more than 1,000 houses in several outlying villages.
