KUALA LUMPUR: Artistes do their bit for quake victims
A host of popular local and regional artistes enlivened “The Yogyakarta Quake Aid 2006″ music festival and carnival here last night.
Held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Club Polo Field, the show a la Live Aid organised by the Force of Nature Aid Foundation, was to raise funds for the recent Yogyakarta earthquake survivors.
The carnival, which began at 4pm, saw performances by more than 20 artistes, divided into the main stage for top acts, the DJ stage for patrons to dance, and the theatre stage for comedians and actors to perform.
Among the local performers were Phlowtron, Ning Baizura, Zahid AF, Pop Shuvit, Harith Iskander and Camelia while regional acts included Indonesian artistes Ruth Sahanaya, Melly Goeslaw, Padi, Marcell and Kris Dayanti.
The event was also a full family carnival complete with fun and games from paintball, football to Playstation 2 booths and giant bouncing castles, even hot-air balloon rides.
All the proceeds collected from the ticket sales and SMS pledges will be channelled to the fund.
