Malaysia: Force Of Nature Brings Yogyakarta Quake Aid 2006 On Aug 19
Donate RM80 and not only will you be able to help survivors of the recent Yogyakarta earthquake to rebuild their lives, but you will also get to see the likes of Kris Dayanti, Dayang Nurfaizah and Disagree perform.
Some of the best Malaysian and Indonesian entertainers have come together to perform for charity under the Force of Nature (FON) Aid Foundation, in the Yogyakarta Quake Aid 2006 this Aug 19.
Chairman of FON Tan Sri Razali Ismail during the press conference for the event today, said that the event which will feature an extensive line-up of more than 20 performers, will keep the crowd going through three entertainment stages; the main stage, the DJ stage and the theatre stage.
“The event, a one-day Music Festival and Carnival, will be held at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Club’s Polo Field starting from 4pm (until late).
“All proceeds from tickets worth RM80 each will go towards the FON Indonesia’s Quake Fund and benefit the Foundation’s long term recovery efforts in the devastated areas,” he said, adding that it will be broadcast live on ASTRO RIA.
The 6.3-magnitude earthquake that hit Indonesia last May 27 has left in its wake almost 650,000 people displaced with 67,505 houses completely destroyed, and where more than 5,000 people were killed.
Meanwhile, FON Chief Executive Officer Steve McCoy added that the event would feature a full family carnival complete with fun and games from paintball, football to Playstation 2 booths and giant bouncing castles, even hot-air balloon rides and paragliding.
“But as we look forward to that day, we can start helping by donating via SMS starting this Aug 4 to Sept 4 where for each SMS, RM5 is donated,” he said, adding that donors only need to type “FON 5″ and send to 32728.
As for the expected amount to be raised from the event, McCoy said they were hoping to achieve the target of RM5,000,000.
Among the entertainers who are also involved are Ning Baizura, Melly Goeslow, Ruth Sahanaya, Padi, Pop Shuvit, LO, Phlowtron, Ahli Fiqir, DJ Gabriel, DJ Cheapshot of Fort Minor, Instant Cafe and Harith Iskandar.
Tickets are available at Music Valley outlets in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Seremban, Johor, Melaka and Ipoh, plus Tower Records outlets at One Utama, KLCC, Hartamas Shopping Mall, Mid Valley Megamall and Lot 10.
