Malioboro closed for New Year
Tourist street Jl. Malioboro will be closed on Saturday for the Malioboro Fair, in which music performances on five different stages along the 1.5 kilometer street will be held.
The head of the fair’s organizing committee, Tyas Pashupati, said at least 33 groups, including bands from Jakarta, will take part in the event, which will present nonstop live performances on Saturday.
In the nearby Kota Gede area, the new year will be ushered in by a folk festival that began on Dec. 24 and will end on Dec. 31 with traditional parades.
